Classes Offered
Drawing with Collen offers private one-on-one drawing classes. Classes are tailored and customized to the individual, and are held 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm. All classes are 2 hours. Note that the figure drawing lessons are 3 hours, with an additional fee of $20 per hour for a live model.
- Basic Drawing Techniques (shading/lines)
In this course, students will learn to draw from life. They will be taught concepts such as modeling form, composition, the value system, and form/cast shadows. They will draw plaster cast studies and drapery using charcoal.
- Perspective
This course focuses on the principles of perspective that can be used to create believable environments. In this course, students will learn to draw thumbnails and landscapes, figures environment, and to how add light their creations.
- Pen and Ink
This course focuses on the use of pen and ink. Students will learn about texture, the value system, and contrast. They will also learn how to draw with prisma markers used for industrial and concept design.
- Figure Drawing
In the first course, students will draw from a live nude figure model and learn to implement proportion, anatomy, harmony and gesture in their drawings. They will start with quick studies and progress to long poses.
In the second course, students will draw from a clothed figure. This course will mainly focus on the effects of anatomy on cloth. They will start with quick studies and progress to long poses.
- Anatomy
In this course, students will be introduced to the cannon of proportions used by the classical masters. Emphasis will be put on learning the bones and muscles of the body. Students will later learn how movement affects the muscles in order to draw action poses. Students will start by studying from anatomy texts and drawing sculpture before moving on to drawing from a live model.
